According to the MongoDB documentation regarding restrictions on collection names, a collection name may not begin with the prefix "system.". However, the Compass 1.17.0 collection summary list (displayed when clicking on a database name) also excludes valid/allowed collection names that do not have the final dot character, such as "systems" and "systematic".
