This is how it worked in the single connection world. It helped the weird use case where some users save their connection without credentials and then fill it in only when connecting.

In the multiple-connetions world we connect the moment you click on a connection so the only way to perform the trick of only filling in your credentials when you connect is to use the three-dot menu to access the Edit Connection form and then go from there.
