We were offered ownership of Flask-PyMongo by the developer of the project, Dan Crosta (previous MongoDB employee). Given the project’s relative popularity and maturity, small size, and alignment with our larger MongoDB + Flask initiative, this is a good opportunity to make contributions and improve the overall developer experience with the project. 

Since the project hasn't been maintained in a while, our plan is to get it in good standing initially, and then perform regular maintenance (update for MongoDB/PyMongo/Python version compatibility, address issues/PRs) on it periodically.
