      The rb_sym2str function used in https://jira.mongodb.org/browse/RUBY-1957 does not exist in Ruby 1.9. Since we have decided to support Ruby 2.3+ in Ruby projects, this is a good opportunity to enforce this minimum Ruby version for the bson extension.
