There appears to be some network flakiness when running git fetches that is causing BF-36787 . To help mitigate this, we should add retries to the git fetches in restore_git_history_and_tags.sh . There is precendence for git retries as evergreen itself executes git commands with retries when using their prebuilt git commands.
