The version of dmesg on some build hosts does not support the --clear option to clear the kernel ring buffer but only the -c option.
The pre task in etc/evergreen.yml should be updated to use dmesg -c.

The two options are not strictly equivalent as -c also outputs the buffer content but since the output is discarded the pre task behavior will stay the same.
