      Prior to Milestone 2, only {_id: 1} is accepted as a clusterKey.

      Creating a compound clusterKey must be supported with the following restrictions

      (1) The clusterKey must include _id: 1
      (2) All fields in the clusterKey use the existing index key specification structure, with values of 1, or -1
