Currently statistics in the cache is not invalidated after analyze command, and hence its not updated. 
If statistics is updated in the collection the analyze command must invalidate the corresponding cache entry and so the stats entry will be updated on the next request.
If there are old copies of statistics they should not be deleted until optimizer finished using it.
