      The method unsetShardRoleForLegacyDDLOperationsSentWithShardVersionIfNeeded was introduced to clean up the shardVersion coming from the mongos (SERVER-68485). After v7.0, This is no longer needed since the shardVersion stopped being attached to the affected commands (merge and split) under SERVER-68485 (which was commited on v6.1).
