The replica set endpoint forces commands from external clients to go through the router. After SPM-3670, every collection will be tracked. This means that commands through the replica set endpoint can leak sharding errors such as StaleConfig and StaleDbVersion when the router exhaust the number of retries. This may be confusing to the user.
