The cloud team is working on a feature to allow customers to Archive their cloud backup snapshots to their own S3 bucket (other cloud stores will follow). As part of the process, which is outlined in details in the PD, Scope and Spec (see linked EPIC), cloud will be exporting the data in compressed JSON format but will be striping the files to allow for Atlas Datalake to be performant. The ask here is to enhance mongoimport to understand the striping that cloud will be doing, by reading the inventory file and make it very seamless for the customer to import the JSON files back into a cluster.

Without doing this enhancement, a customer would have to import each file one at a time or script it. This will be easier.
