When a server monitored with mongostat restarts, and so its counters are reset, the next mongostat line shows negative counter values.

(FWIW, MMS handles counter resets and overflows by simply discarding the sample whenever there's a "signum" change from the "previous" to "current" value of a counter, or if the difference is negative.)
