We allow users to turn off general transaction_sync and then force a sync on a per transaction basis or via log_flush. However there is an inconsistency in that the user cannot get write-no-sync functionality when forcing a sync per-transaction. The user can get that functionality when turning on transaction_sync or using log_flush.
