With a backup cursor open, it's important that the checkpoint that was valid when the backup started remains valid until the backup has completed.
It may be necessary to keep pinned behind the time point corresponding to the most recent finalized database wide checkpoint when the backup cursor is created.
Investigate how much data we need to pin when backup cursor is open.
